The Sky's the Limit | Smash the Air NZ lock out | Bring the Tempest
This weekend Air New Zealand, (75% publicly owned), is locking out EPMU members who are employed by a subsidiary at lower rates of pay than directly employed Flight Attendants. Workers are asking for pay parity with directly employed Flight Attendants. Air New Zealand CEO Rob Fyfe (Salary = $1.6 million), is the lead scab.
"[T]here are crew in more hardship than me, one lady I have heard about is living in her garage and renting out her house to meet the mortgage payments, not trying to single out fellow crew but her story does give you a realistic picture of what we at Zeal are being faced with everyday, this particular woman is on admin duties due to injury so she is having to live on just over $1000 a month after tax." - ZealGirl

Re: The Sky's the Limit | Smash the Air NZ lock out
Actually, Rob Fyfe isn't on 1.6 million per year, he's on 3.1 million.
He got a 93% pay rise last year. Fucking ridiculous, eh?
Solidarity with the Zeal 320 workers!
Re: The Sky's the Limit | Smash the Air NZ lock out | Bring the
Fyfe is not a scab he's a boss.
Re: Re: The Sky's the Limit | Smash the Air NZ lock out | Bring
FYI anonymous, it is indeed possible to be both a boss and a scab. A scab shamefully performs a striking/locked out workers duties. Bosses are also the most likely candidates to be “scab herders” or recruiters of non union labour for obvious logistical and ideological reasons. What a dick Mr Fyfe is to boot.
Re: The Sky's the Limit | Smash the Air NZ lock out | Bring the
Zeal was set up when Labour was Govt and Andrew Little was the Union boss.
What's changed?
Labours not in Govt.
EMPU members need to assess how they have been served by the Labour Party President.

Re: The Sky's the Limit | Smash the Air NZ lock out | Bring the
Anonymous you jerk. The Zeal workers only joined the EPMU late last year after. This is their first negotiations with the EPMU as their union.
Not only are you ignorant, you're bloody patronising in assuming these workers are led by the nose for political purposes. Give them, and their union, some bloody credit.
Re: The Sky's the Limit | Smash the Air NZ lock out | Bring the

How much are they on? From what I heard it was actually decent money, and these people are just striking for the sake of striking.
