The World Stands Up for Gaza

in

Over the weekend there were demonstrations in solidarity with the people of Gaza in Aotearoa and across the World.

Auckland: From Socialist Aotearoa

Over one thousand people took over the city centre of Auckland in a mass die in on Queen Street, furious at the Israeli Massacre of the people of Gaza. The biggest march for justice in Palestine in the history of New Zealand, it also saw a powerful unity between Aotearoa's Muslim and Arab community and the radical Left. A barrage of hundreds of shoes rained unto a bannerless American Consulate to the chant of "Hey, Hey, USA- where's your bloody flag today?"

Over 100,000 people marched in London, surrounding the Israeli embassy where riot cops batoned and cavalry charged the crowd. In Ireland, thousands took to the streets of Belfast and Dublin, whilst in Derry the missile factory Raytheon was blockaded. Tens of thousands also marched in Paris, on the streets of Turkey, Lebanon, Greece, Italy, the USA and Egypt. The deeply unpopular Egyptian government hovers on the edge of a mass uprising, its brutality to its own striking workers and poor now compounded by its complicity in the Israeli assault in Gaza. In our thousands and our millions- we are all Palestinians | Photos from Auckland march

Christchurch: A lunchtime rally against the invasion of Gaza (with only 48 hours prior notice) drew a decent crowd of 100 people in Cathedral Square. report and photos. Meanwhile a larger march in Christchurch is planned for Saturday the 17th of January. Christchurch Palestine March This Saturday

Re: The "World" Stands Up!? for Gaza?

When Israel left Gaza several years ago the “WORLD” had cheered Israel,
and promised its support in case of problems.
Since then, 1/5 of Israel was subject to rocket attacks daily.
And the “WORLD” silenced.
Now, Israel defends their citizens.
I believe that the protesters are not the “World” they r either miss-guided or pro terrorism,
Look at the recruitment links below.

Re: Re: The "World" Stands Up!? for Gaza?

Arent' the people of Palestine the indigenous people of the land known as Israel. Were they not given that little piece of land known as the Gaza as a sign of tokenism. The issues are historical - they just didnt happen over night - rememebr the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) the people of Palestine have been fighting for their freedom, for their land since it was taken off them. Know your history - its not about the here and now - Israel will continue to bombard and attack the Gaza till there is nothing left. that little piece of tokenistic land called the Gaza is all they have - they had more BUT israel took it - what would you do !

Re: Re: The "World" Stands Up!? for Gaza?

"When Israel left Gaza several years ago the “WORLD” had cheered Israel"

When Sharon 'withdrew' his troops from Gaza in 2005, he did it to avoid overextending his army, so that they could invade another part of Palestine, the West Bank. That attack on a part of Palestine, was one of many since the 1967 war. The Gaza Strip has had over forty years of apartheid by the State of Israel: permanent political, economic and military control.

"Since then, 1/5 of Israel was subject to rocket attacks daily."

Gaza has had over forty years of Israel bombing it and continually breaking cease-fires.

"Now, Israel defends their citizens."

Oh, by 'citizens' do you mean the people living on illegal (according to International law) settlements on land that it had invaded and occupied, outside of the 1948 boundary?

"I believe that the protesters are not the “World” they r either miss-guided or pro terrorism"

So supporting the self-determination of a normal people, no better or worse than any other national group, who have had over sixty years of cultural genocide and atrocities committed against them is being 'pro terrorism'? For your information George W. Bush is no longer US President and you can stop listening to the sorts of lies that he told.

--- They took those lands because of attacks on their country. This happened before. If the only way to stop themselves being attacked is to fight and claim, then good on them.

-- I beleive that he means people supporting palastine, a race of people that strap bombs to their young and suicide-attack people would be pro-terrorism. You know, kinda like fighting from a crowd of people, so when they get killed the world can cry about the 'innocents' who were sheliding someone with a AK.

Re: Re: Re: The "World" Stands Up!? for Gaza?

No, The UN voted to create the state of Israel. If you really want to get indigenous, maybe you should try going back a couple of thousand years.
Admit it, you are a closet anti-Semite

Re: The World Stands Up for Gaza

The real reason for the War.

Israel can't fight an armed force only civilians. In Lebonan Israel faced defeat and great shame.

Why now, G.W. Bush is about to leave office and Israel has an election very soon.

This is shameless in its mercenary tactics. It's all about domestic political power and has nothing to do with safety of Israel.
