Wellington meeting: Animal Rights and Repression in Austria
Austrian animal rights campaigner and former political prisoner Dr Martin Balluch will be speaking a public meeting in Wellington on Thursday March 19th
Dr Balluch is president of VGT (Verien Gegen Teirfabriken – Association Against Animal Factories) which has achieved many successes in Austria including a ban on battery hen cages, fur farms and wild animals in circuses. Austrian animal rights groups and hbene subjected to severe and brutal police repression with the jailing of 10 campaigners including Dr Balluch, last year in a case that is still ongoing.
The meeting is hosted by the Wellington Animal Rights Network and will be at 7pm, Thursday March 19th 2009, at St Johns Church Hall, corner of willis and dixon streets

I hope something positive comes form this for the animal rights movement instead of the usual rheotric being spouted by a few and then the usual boozing at the after meeting function. All the while fundraising occurs so a few can empire build.

^^^ I agree ....Beagles being tested on in NZ now ! wheres the campaign against it !!! really slack ,i guess its easier to feel all fluffy with each other rather than actual campaigning !!

dont tell ppl you are having demos etc if you have no intention of carrying them through there is nothing worse than ppl who are all talk and inconsistent
